Community with impact:IT companies set a joint example on Clean-up Day with Planet Matters
Linz, September 2025 - Working together for a cleaner city: on Monday, eight member companies of DIGITAL MILE Linz - bet-at-home, Cloudflight, Dynatrace, Keba, Kontron AG, MIC, Smarter Ecommerce and TECH HARBOR - set a clear example for sustainability. At the Clean-up Day around the Donaulände, numerous employees took part in the environmental campaign - organized in cooperation with the international Planet Matters initiative.
After the joint kick-off at TECHCENTER Linz, cross-company teams set off along the Danube to collect garbage. The results were surprising: In addition to a considerable amount of waste, there were also some unusual finds - from old iron, car parts and deckchairs to shoes and a total of 378 cigarette butts. In the subsequent recycling and upcycling workshop, creative souvenirs were created that the participants took home with them as a souvenir - combined with the realization that just one discarded cigarette can contaminate up to 80 liters of drinking water. The day of action was rounded off with a convivial finale with plenty of room for exchange and networking.
"We are proud that so many colleagues from the DIGITAL MILE companies took part. It's impressive to see what we can achieve together - both for the environment and for our sense of togetherness," emphasizes Georg Spiesberger, initiator of the DIGITAL MILE Linz.
The Planet Matters team was also enthusiastic: "It's not just about collecting garbage, but also about the experience of doing something meaningful together and setting an example. It was precisely this energy that could be felt at the Clean-up Day in Linz," says Felix Krainer from Planet Matters.
Our conclusion:
The DIGITAL MILE Linz Clean-up Day 2025 showed that innovation and sustainability can go hand in hand - and that the IT industry in Linz is actively committed to a liveable environment. Let's keep our mile clean together!
