Talent explorers, get set, go
Since the beginning of November, the official motto has been "We discover talents as part of the Robot Olympiad District Linz", because the technology of tomorrow starts today. DIGTAL MILE Linz is launching this project together with the innovation hub of the city of Linz and well-known leading companies in Linz - together we are taking responsibility for the future of technology education for our children!
A total of eight schools from Linz and Linz-Land are being mentored by students from two technical colleges - the Linzer Technikum (LiTec) and the HTL Leonding. The technology professionals there coach their protégés in the use of Lego Spike Prime robotics sets, which are provided by the respective sponsoring company. Next year, the student teams will have the opportunity to take part in the regional and national World Robot Olympiad(WRO) competition and put their skills to the test.
One of the aims of the project is to encourage an interest in technology as early as possible, even in schools without a corresponding focus, and to awaken an interest in the technologies of the future.
"I am delighted that so many young technicians and renowned companies are taking part in this project. Initiatives like this have a lasting impact on Linz as an educational and business location. This initiative is an excellent way of promoting the skills of tomorrow today and discovering the skilled workers of the future," emphasizes Dietmar Prammer, Managing Deputy Mayor of the City of Linz.
In addition to HTL LiTec and HTL Leonding , Akademisches Gymnasium, BRG Fadingerstraße, Europagymnasium Auhof, Gymnasium Petrinum, MS 15 Leonardo da Vinci, MS Neuhofen, PTS Linz Stadt 1 and TNMS3 Stelzhamerschule are also taking part.
The Upper Austrian Directorate of Education and the following companies are also involved in the DIGITAL MILE Linz talent discovery project in cooperation with the Innovationshauptplatz via school sponsorships: Artgroup, Dynatrace, KEBA, MIC, Netural, Primetals Technologies Austria and TECH HARBOR.
