DIGITAL MILE Linz is an association of well-known IT leading companies in Linz, which was founded with a clear goal:
to develop Linz into a national and international hub for IT talent. Visibility is crucial in order to continue to attract sufficient specialists for the successful growth of the IT industry and the long-term security of the location. Here we are in intense competition with many other European regions.
In addition to our company-specific commitment to Linz, we have launched a number of joint initiatives in recent years to get children and young people in particular interested in technical careers at an early stage. These measures aim to awaken a lasting interest in IT and technology and thus create the basis for future specialists. With these commitments, we underline our clear and long-term commitment to the development of the Linz location.
We have been closely following the media coverage of the discussion about the location of IT:U. The newly founded IT:U would benefit greatly from our existing network and the entire Linz IT industry with globally active companies - and conversely, the companies would benefit from a local "talent factory". Be it through knowledge transfer, research partnerships or the joint recruitment of international students.
The companies in the DIGITAL MILE Linz, with their more than 5,000 digitization specialists, have a clear commitment to Linz as an IT location of the future. Together we make a significant contribution to the innovative strength and competitiveness of the IT sector.
In this respect, we also have a clear opinion on the location of IT:U: It belongs in Linz!
The close networking of a strong international economy, excellent science and first-class education in Linz creates a unique environment for the training of future IT specialists. By combining these forces, Linz will become a digitization stronghold with international appeal, which will serve as a magnet for talent and innovation not only for the region but also in global competition.
To achieve this, we are working together with the state of Upper Austria and the city of Linz.
